Hot Hip Hop Score Card
"Undoubtedly, the aspirations, goals, life, and energy of this group is clearly felt through out this defining album. Iz, Jame, Don Heroic, DJ Rock On, Life, and Talib combine to put together an excitingly fresh assortment of bright, powerful, intense hip hop sure shot hits. With commanding beats, and highly satisfying vocal performances, its unrealistic to think this album won’t appease any fans craving for good hip hop music."
The strongest points of this album are its lack of filler tracks, its tight production, banging beats, impacting vocal performances, and the groups unity during every track. All of the members of Soulviet Union compliment one another’s performance, making the content of each track, come off as smooth as the lyrics, rhymes, and production. Every track featured on this album is solid, leaving no room for bland material or album fodder / filler.
The best track on this album, and the album opener, entitled "U.N.I.O.N.", features a hard hitting, impacting beat, and lyrics hitting just as solid. Sound FX, smooth lyrics, and an "off the hook beat" make this track a sure favorite. This attributes to the albums strong points, leaving fans to believe, Soulviet Union, & Ambassadon Records really know how to start an album off right. Other notable tracks include --- the whole album? Its not unrealistic to believe that any to every track featured on this album is worthy of "sure shot hit" status, held in heavy rotation. "Do You" is the most original track on the album, being backed by a "hot club style beat" which reminds us of the formerly popular club track entitled "CheapSkate" by "Sporty Thievz", except Soulviet Union comes with a 2002 sound; highly original, banging, and much, much appreciated. Soulviet Unions music doesn’t present itself as "club only type" music; however, its certainly music that’s easily vibed, getting fans moving. Whether your lounging, clubbing, or whatever, this album has music any "frame of mind" can appreciate.
The most conscious track on the album is entitled "What You Know Now? ( Is It Enuff )". This track, and others through out the album such as, "Who Could You Trust", "In The World", and "Pain" give this album a realism edge that fans world wide can related too. Powerful messages intertwined in hard hitting rhymes that are easily felt draw your attention into the music. The realism, and impact of this albums content is certainly a contribution to this albums overwhelming strength.
This albums only critic is that some "multi symbolic", "constant punch-line", and "battle rhyme" cravers won’t appreciate the conveyance of the content within the rhymes featured on some of the tracks. Instead of being an album representing multi symbolic, punch line packed battle rhymes, this album comes with lyrics that are easy to relate to, easy to grasp, and certainly well played, being smooth, hard hitting, and definitely moving, proving every second word doesn’t have to rhyme in order for a flow to be appreciated.
All of the beats on this album are very impressive, creative, and definitely banging. The best beat on the album is featured in the albums opener, "U.N.I.O.N.". Other notable beats back tracks such as "Dangerous Minds", "Strike Back", "Do You", "S.I.N.", "Who Could You Trust?", and "Pain".
This album has many strong points, and a huge absence of weak points, leaving fans to conclude that this album features some incredible musical artistry, by an incredibly talented, well organized, tightly unified group. As an independent album, this is better than as good as it gets, and as a commercial album, this is certainly a heavy contender. Good lyrical content fans can easily related to, and enjoy, banging beats that are certainly felt, as well as great production make for a great hip hop release packed with solid hip hop music, and a ton of sure shot hits. World wide, this album deserves heavy play, and heavy rotation being a future hip hop classic.
