Thus far, Detroit is known for lyrical geniuses like Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem, who are respected above- and underground. Alley Life shows his pride for the Motown in his first single off of his self-titled debut album. Slim and Royce are known for their originality, but from this track, there’s nothing to new to the game. If you like a hyped up joint to test your car’s stereo system, this is for you.
Lyrically, he’s like JT Money, and the voice is nearly exact to Trickdaddy. Actually, I may have heard this on the radio and passed it off as a Trickdaddy song. I guess he gets a few bonus points for dissing the ‘bling bling’ fad, but that’s been done all over the place. The most props I can give Alley Life on this is that it’s a good party/club joint and that he’s from my official hometown. [Jeff]
