The Oddities are an extremely talented crew hailing from Canada. The Scenic Route is an incredible album packing more flavor than a fully figured hip hop honey. Sixteen tracks deep, the Scenic Route delivers an exceptional value in its buffet of consistently hot hip hop music that never dips in quality.
Battle Axe Records deserves some credit for their presentation of The Scenic Route. The cover is well flavored in hip hop dressings, and very informative to readers. A eight panel insert featuring some crew photo’s, some tight artwork, and some information on other Battle Axe releases. Battle Axe Records knows how to put the package together. The sound quality, and overall mastering is perfect. Bookworm does a fantastic job on the production.
The album opens up with the hit track “Oddities“, oddly enough named after the crew. There is a hot video for this track that has been released. Oddities is exceptional ill with that ill vibe fans can groove to while listening. The beat is explosively laid back, and the lyrics are real hot. A track that is mandatory listening. The track continues with an assortment of gems that are sure to appease the most resistant fan. Underground hip hop icon Ishkan makes an appearance on Soundwaves, and contributes positively to the track. Ishkan definitely adds flavor. No Business, Wicked Man, and Revolving are very notable tracks as well that fans need to recognize. All of the tracks are equally as strong, there is not one bad full length track. There are sixteen tracks featured; however, in addition there appears to be four bonus tracks bringing the total to twenty.
The beats, and lyrics are strong in each and every song. The Oddities creativity, and strong song writing and vocal delivery are their biggest assets on The Scenic Route. They dazzle fans, and keep them extremely interested in the music the whole listen through. The crew members gel well with one another, no one, or no verse ever sounds out of place. The music continuously sounds hot, and each song, and verse is in perfect harmony with its neighbor.
Overall The Scenic Route is an album fans need to hear. An incredible album put together by an incredible talented crew that commands attention. The Oddities will continue to achieve great things in the hip hop industry, and continue to create amazing music that fans can easily praise, enjoy, and embrace. Don’t sleep.
