The Sons is an incredible group that proved their tremendous abilities on “The Dawn”, the group’s first full length album; however, with “The Sons”, a self titled collection of unreleased tracks, they prove they have the ability to keep coming out with incredible material. “The Sons” is a collection of eleven hot tracks that impress listeners instantly. White Boy, & N8 G$$ combine to delivery some of the best lyrical performances fans have yet to hear. Truly an impressive duo, and an impressive collection of songs fans world wide crave.
The Sons have matured, and improved upon their music since their “The Dawn” release, which is an incredible album. They seam to have refined some of their edge, and grown lyrically. Exceptional production, magnificently flawless rhymes, and explosive, energetic beats bless their music. Each and every song on “The Sons” is notable, and of the best quality fans can expect. The first seven tracks are full length songs, and the last four tracks are fresh freestyles. The freestyles are equally as solid as The Sons full length songs, and better than most groups recorded material. The creative, witty, and well laid rhymes complement the captivating, attention stealing beats. There are no introductions, no annoying interludes, or skits on The Sons self titled collection of unreleased tracks, simply music. The CD never dips, and always maintains its high quality of music. A CD fans can loop forever.
The CD starts with an explosive track entitled “Sons”. As any “anthem” type joint the energy is expressed, and the intensity is not easily matched. The next song is entitled “Slide With Me” which is an impressive song that keeps the listeners interest, and attention. A ruggedly raw beat backs masterful lyrics delivered in perfect style. “Imagine” is next, a mellow, laid back track, but equally as appreciated as any other song on the CD. “Every Little Thing” is one of the best songs ever recorded, & yet to be released. The meaning behind the song is real, and fans can easily relate. The Sons do an excellent job expressing the concept of the song which is very catchy. The beat, and production is outstanding, and the lyrics are well laid. “Every Little Thing” is the CD’s most appreciated song. “Every Little Thing” has a classic L.L. type appeal. The CD continues with other full length songs such as “I Wanna Give Up”, “Sometimes”, and “Still Our Day”, all notable songs that are highly appreciated. “I Wanna Give Up” & “Sometimes” have a defining Slim Shady appeal to them. Next fans enjoy a collection of four of the best freestyle tracks heard.
Critics will have a hard time critiquing any material on the CD; however, most will critique The Sons for not putting the material together on another full length album project. Some critics might also critique “The Sons” use of some negative language; however, many argue profanity in music adds attitude, and personal expression which is of more value than censorship. It’s very hard to critique a factor in an album that many will praise.
Overall The Sons are a very impressive group with much to offer fans world wide. Their music is flawless, and their skills are infinite. They create exceptional song, after song that fans world wide will appreciate if ever given the opportunity to be heard. Fans hope that the message in “Still Our Day” is true, and “The Sons” will never give up on pushing forward, because if they do, hip hop music will have an empty void that will not easily be filled. It’s the independent hip hop artists, and groups that poor so much of themselves, their heart, and their soul into their music that their words, and beats become so much more than music, they become a keystone in the whole essence, and spirit of the culture. “The Sons” are a very passionate and hungry group that delivers so much more than music.
