The Low Pressure Sampler: A Day in the Life of Brian by various artists is a hot hip hop release fans should check. “Spawning talented artists such as Josh Martinez, Governor Bolts, BirdApres, DJ Moves, and other notables, Low Pressure imprints their image in the minds of listeners across the globe as a contender for producing seriously “good” hip hop music for 2001, and beyond. The Low Pressure Sampler truly indicates the intense talent that the artists under this label grasp, and exhibit through their music.”
The Low Pressure Sampler begins with a track entitled “Wednesday”, one of the hottest, most mind candy intense tracks that has come forth thus far in the year 2001. The conversation that introduces you to the musical content of this track is humorous, and definitely gives insight to what you can expect it has in store. Governor Bolts truly exhibits his wide array of talent through creative, humorously insightful, stylishly impacting, smooth, slightly metaphorical wordplay. Governor Bolts keeps things “understandable” by not using overly educated words, and uses just enough metaphor to get the point across. Now the BEAT, its off the hook at the least. A better combination and complimenting of talent could not be reached even if one tried to clone. Definitely a track to put into extra heavy rotation.
Packed with a high degree of hot, sure shot hits, the Low Pressure Sampler continues with a blazing track entitled “Theories”, performed by “Ink Operated & Josh Martinez”. Both artists exhibit nothing but pure talent, complimenting one another’s performances well. The production on this track is exceptionally good, and that may be an understatement.
Track 4 on the Sampler, entitled “Moked Out”, performed by “Moka Only” is another track that’s sure to be deemed one of the best tracks appearing on the sampler. The beat backing Moka Only’s smooth, carefully played lyrics, is amazingly relaxing and truly vibed. Good hip hop music doesn’t get much better then this. The content of this track is presented on a level that the majority of its listeners can easily relate to, which will easily make this track one of your favorites.
Other notable tracks include “Rap Wrap Rap”, “Nursing Home”, “Women Loving Women”, and “Dreams”. Definitely tracks to plug into heavy rotation.
This Sampler by Low Pressure Records has no letdowns, disappointments, or flaws; however, it does have a distinct difference in talent displayed by certain artists on certain tracks. For example, on one hand you have blazing tracks such as “Wednesday”, “Theories”, “Moked Out” that are on another level, and on the other hand you have less intense tracks such as “All Hands Down”, “Screeched In”, “Green Curry” that can be appreciated, but are clearly on a lower level. None of the tracks on the Sampler are ones you will regret listening to, or be disappointed with.
The least appreciated track on the Low Pressure Sampler is entitled “Screeched In”, performed by “Oracle the Newf”. Coming equipt with a minimally intense display of talent and enthusiasm this track is the closest you will come to saying, “what was that?”
DJ Moves (who produced the entire album) deals out a high degree of bangers, and sure shot hits making this Sampler hot to have in heavy rotation. Although packed with some “blazing hot” gems, this album in its entirety isn’t the hottest thing to grace the elite, but its enough to make any hip hop head, who’s craving good hip hop music say, “Damn Im glad I picked up this album, cuz this is some damn good hip hop music”. The Low Pressure Sampler: A Day in the Life of Brian is heat, no doubt.
